Sten Ulrik Ostenfeld graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1977. With over 40 years as an architect at Alex Poulsen Arkitekter (APA), he has been an invaluable employee and partner and is highly regarded among colleagues and collaborators. Sten is, above all, the company’s man—very loyal and highly respected. He has always approached his work with great zeal and enthusiasm, and with his skill and love for the profession of architecture, he has achieved significant recognition in the industry.
Sten has always placed professional pride and great care in his work. He approaches tasks thoroughly and is very detail-oriented—nothing is left to chance when Sten is involved in a project.

Managing director, partner, and project manager

Sten played a key role in taking over the firm after Tom and Ulrik Poulsen, who were the sons of the studio's founder, Architect Alex Poulsen (1910-1999). Sten can be described as a "cornerstone" in the continuation of the firm. For many years, he has been a partner at APA and has served multiple terms as the studio's managing director. He has primarily worked as a project manager with main areas of expertise in planning, analysis and programming, client consultancy, as well as design and construction management for public and private clients.
Over the years, Sten Ostenfeld has been widely engaged in the planning and execution of countless construction projects for public clients, including the Danish Prison and Probation Service, the Agency for Modernisation, the Danish National Police, the Danish Courts Administration, municipalities, and the Capital Region of Denmark's Psychiatry.
As a specialist in buildings with high security requirements, he has been involved in several projects, including: Aarhus Police Headquarters, Storstrøm Prison, the State Prison of East Jutland, a new facility in Nuuk, Greenland (Competition), and the establishment of new prisons in the Balkans.
