Contract Sign off and Construction Start for the New Closed Prison in Sdr. Omme
05.12.2023
After approximately three years of planning and design, we at Alex Poulsen Architects are pleased that the construction of the new prison in Sønder Omme has taken a significant step toward becoming a reality, as the Danish Prison and Probation Service has signed agreements with K.G.Hansen for the construction contract and with SIKOM Denmark for the security installation contract.
Currently, the 18-hectare building site is being prepared by the civil engineering contractor Ivan Jakobsen A/S. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025, when the Prison and Probation Service will expand its capacity with 200 new prison spaces.
As the lead consultant, we will continue to closely monitor the project, and we look forward to working with the contractors on-site. Together with Viborg Ingeniørerne og EBR Byggerådgivning, we will manage the construction on behalf of the Danish Prison and Probation Service.
We’re thrilled to step out of the 3D models and see firsthand how the structures begin to rise from the ground, forming the framework for both the staff’s daily work and the lives of the inmates.
In the design phase, we have made every effort to ensure optimal conditions for both staff and inmates, and in this phase, we will work diligently to bring the project’s vision to life.
