Intense Co-Creation Workshop as Part of the Vast Expansion of Copenhagen Airport

05.07.2019

There was diligent work during the co-creation workshop the other day at Copenhagen airport in connection with the 80,000 square meter airport expansion. As the client advisor for the entire expansion project, Alex Poulsen Arkitekter participates in the co-creation workshops, where we can contribute our expertise throughout the process.

The workshop is part of a series of workshops held as part of a Co-Creation strategy for the design of the airport expansion. All current parties involved in the design of the four billion kroner expansion of Copenhagen Airport were present during the workshop. The working group, consisting of the client, users, contractor, engineer, architect, and client advisor, identified key topics in the preliminary design proposal phase and prioritized these collaboratively in a relatively short time. The close cooperation within the group aims to achieve a shared ownership and understanding of the process, including the respective parties' commitments, which can often be overlooked in a traditional design process. The Co-Creation strategy is highly beneficial in the goal of making the expansion of this world-class international airport function optimally.

“It is a very complicated and extensive process that we must go through to reach the final goal of CPH being able to handle up to 40 million passengers annually. But everyone is working intensely to achieve the desired outcome. We are all very pleased with the good collaboration we have in the group, and the atmosphere at all our effective Co-Creation meetings is always excellent,” says Jonas Hviid Mønster, partner at Alex Poulsen Arkitekter and client advisor for CPH at T3 Airside—and adds, “It is not only a great pleasure that everything runs relatively smoothly at our Co-Creation workshops, but it is also greatly beneficial to the intended goal—the intention to create an airport where a positive passenger experience, flow, safety, proximity, and a pleasant atmosphere are prioritized.”
