The advisory team found for new closed prison with 200 places in Sdr. Omme.
As part of the new multi-year agreement for the Prison Service, it has been decided to construct a brand-new closed prison with 200 places adjacent to the existing open prison in Sdr. Omme. The advisory team consists of the main consultant, Alex Poulsen Architects, and Viborg Engineers, who will handle all engineering disciplines except for security installations, which will be designed by a joint venture between Rambøll and Cowi.
Over the past year, the team has worked on developing the building program in close and fruitful collaboration with both the project leader from the Prison Service and a very engaged leadership and user team from Sdr. Omme Prison. The programming has focused significantly on creating safe and contemporary correctional facilities while ensuring good working conditions for the prison staff in the beautiful heath landscape surrounding the existing prison and the Omme River.
Managing Director at Alex Poulsen Architects, Jonas Hviid Mønster, states:
“During the program phase, we have experienced tremendous engagement from the prison and pride that their institution will now be expanded with a closed section. The prison today has a special culture focused on employment and education, so it has been essential during the programming phase to prioritize these elements alongside safety and good physical conditions for both inmates and staff. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with all involved and to beginning the next phase, where we will clarify the final layout and develop the architectural concept.”
The advisory team of Alex Poulsen Architects and Viborg Engineers has managed the framework agreement for the Prison Service since 2015 and therefore has in-depth knowledge of the functions and execution of buildings where security is crucial.
