Alex Poulsen Architects: an 80-year legacy of high-security architecture

For 80 years, Alex Poulsen Architects (APA) has been distinguished as a specialized design office, focused on complex construction projects with stringent security and safety requirements. Our evolution never stops, and we continue to learn and refine our expertise every day.

The past few years, in particular, have been both challenging and invaluable in strengthening our position, and we are privileged to be part of a diverse range of exceptional projects set to be realized over the next 1–5 years. To ensure we continue to develop our distinct profile and expertise, we have implemented a leadership restructuring that will further solidify APA’s role as a specialized architectural firm and consultant. As part of this transition, Rasmus Bernhard Nielsen has stepped down as a partner to establish his own firm. This decision was made mutually, allowing both Rasmus and APA to continue developing in directions driven by passion and expertise. We extend our best wishes to Rasmus as he embarks on this new journey.

Jonas Hviid Mønster will transition from his role as Managing Director and will now focus primarily on business development, both in Denmark and internationally, as well as on process development in collaboration with external partners. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Hjortborg will assume the role of CEO, overseeing the firm’s strategic direction and operations. At the same time, Sonia Bom will take on responsibility for APA’s architectural profile and technical quality, ensuring that the firm continues to uphold the highest standards in design and security.

Looking ahead

As we move forward, our commitment to excellence, innovation, and expertise remains at the core of everything we do. These leadership changes allow us to focus even more intently on our specialized field, ensuring that we stay ahead of industry challenges while delivering projects of the highest caliber. We look forward to this next chapter at APA and to continuing our work on groundbreaking projects that define the future of specialized architecture!

This restructuring officially took effect on September 1st 2024, marking an important milestone in APA’s continued growth and specialization. For any inquiries regarding the restructuring, please contact Jonas Hviid Mønster. jm@alexpoulsen.dk

“This restructuring is a crucial step in sustaining and accelerating the growth and new partnerships we have established in 2024. As a specialized design office, we see firsthand the value we create and the impact of our work, which fuels our commitment to push even further. It reinforces our ambition to expand our collaborations, strengthen our network, and, most importantly, continue refining our ability to design architecture that meets the highest security and safety standards.”
