The Danish Law Society and the Arbitration Institute

The property at Kronprinsessegade 28 in Copenhagen, consisting of four floors and an attic, is owned by the Danish Law Society and is located opposite King’s Garden. The 3rd floor is leased to the Arbitration Institute, which moved into the newly renovated and remodeled premises in the spring of 2009. APA has continuously renovated, restored, and remodeled parts of the property and served as the lead consultant on the project in all phases from programming to the final delivery of the completed building. The work was carried out in collaboration with Grontmij-Carl Bro Properties.

Inspiring environments

The listed front building now contains four flexible office spaces and a large meeting room. In striving to achieve an inspiring and visually appealing work environment, warmth and simple materials such as wood and fabric have been incorporated. The patterned floors, including herringbone parquet, create a dynamic expression that, in conjunction with the preserved plasterwork in the ceiling, gives the room a sense of grandeur that reflects the building’s history and aesthetics.

In the court

The completely remodeled rear building houses a courtroom for the Arbitration Court and three accompanying side rooms, specially designed for the conduct of cases. The rooms are designed with an eye for contrasting furniture to create a calm and balanced environment for the purpose. They are also equipped with modern technical equipment for video and telephone conferences, among other things.

A consistent theme

Externally, the slate roof and dormer cheeks have been replaced, and the facade facing King’s Garden has been restored with plastering. In the rear building, a black, closed lift/elevator has been established for barrier-free access - a solution that, with its contrast to the facade’s yellow color, is beautifully adapted to the existing building.
