Psychiatric Center
Sankt Hans
The Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans houses departments for dual diagnoses and forensic psychiatry (departments M and R), featuring historically valuable and aesthetically significant buildings.

As part of a comprehensive expansion and moder-nization effort, the area underwent significant organizational restructuring, culminating in the construction of a new build-ing with 126 closed forensic psychiatric beds. The project also included the extensive renovation of the historic Platanhus, which temporarily accommodated patients during the demolition and replacement of older facilities.

Client consultancy
APA provided client consultancy for three interconnected projects at the Psychiatric Center Sct. Hans. These projects included:
The relocation of forensic psychiatric patients from Solhus and Enghus in department R and Fjordhus in department M.
The renovation of the historically significant Platanhus.
The design and completion of a new forensic psychiatric department.
This project reflects a harmonious balance between preserving historical architecture and meeting contemporary forensic psychiatric standards, showcasing APA’s expertise in creating functional, secure, and patient-centered environments.
Relocation and renovation
To ensure seamless patient relocation, APA conducted in-depth analyses to deliver optimal solutions. The temporary relocation to Platanhus involved a comprehensive update to meet modern safety and operational requirements, including:
The integration of advanced safety elements.
Redesigned patient rooms, common areas, activity spaces, and visiting rooms.
Upgraded administrative facilities to support daily operations.
In addition to interior renovations, secured garden spaces were created, offering therapeutic outdoor environments for patients. New access control points were also established to ensure safety and smooth operations.
