T3 Expansion of Copenhagen Airport

22.05.2019

The T3 airside project is the largest and most complex standalone construction in the history of the airport.

APA is the project’s Client Consultant

The project has a construction budget of approximately four billion kroner and is a historically significant project that enables cph to handle up to 40 million passengers annually. The 80,000 m² airport expansion will be both spectacular and simple, built in a nordic architectural style.

Alex Poulsen Architects is the client consultant for the project and has worked closely with NIRAS to conduct the foundational work, including a user involvement process and an illustrated construction program that outlines future layouts and flows. APA has carried out tender evaluations as well as created presentation materials and analyses for CPH's internal decision-making processes. Vilhelm Lauritzen Arkitekter won the assignment and are the architects for the construction in collaboration with Zeso Architects. COWI is the engineering consultant, and Aarsleff is the general contractor.

“We have had an intensive dialogue with CPH throughout the entire client advisory process, focusing on ensuring user input and identifying, fulfilling, and meeting the client’s wishes and needs. Based on this, we have successfully illustrated a balanced solution for land use and flow through targeted efforts and numerous studies. In addition to creating an exciting and functional space, we have emphasized that the building meets the intended capacity and future expansion possibilities. It has been especially important for us to ensure the best possible handover of valuable knowledge to the general contractor,” says Jonas Hviid Mønster, partner at Alex Poulsen Architects.
