On January 30, 2020, the flags were raised for the topping-out ceremony at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.

Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen is being constructed by the Capital Region of Denmark in connection with Herlev Hospital, with support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The topping-out ceremony was traditionally celebrated with speeches from project manager Anette Madsen and a representative from the contractors, as well as the obligatory sausages.

Currently, around 100 craftsmen are working on the construction, which is expected to be ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2021, fulfilling a vision for the establishment of an internationally leading center for diabetes research, prevention, and treatment.
