Copenhagen Airport New Pier E

As part of Copenhagen Airport’s extensive expansion, Pier E has been built, adding approximately 30,000 m² of new space at a construction cost of around 400 million DKK. Pier E extends the airport's gate and stand capacity, seamlessly connecting with the existing Pier D to enhance the airport’s functionality and passenger experience.

Tackling complex tasks

APA in collaboration with NIRAS, provided extensive client advisory services for the development of the construction program for Pier E. This was a particularly complex project, which involved:

  • Conducting flow analyses to optimize passenger and operational movement.

  • Preparing an illustrated construction program during the proposal phase.

  • Managing and executing an EU tender for total consultancy, including negotiations.

Throughout the construction process, APA acted as the client consultant, with a focus during the later stages on project review and ensuring the project’s original intentions were upheld.

Solution oriented

To make way for the newly constructed Pier E, the existing walkway to Terminal "GO" had to be demolished. During the construction period, APA oversaw the establishment of a temporary connection, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations.

APA’s responsibilities included both client consultancy services and design, with a focus on regulatory compliance and the preparation of tender documents for prefabricated building modules used in the temporary connection.

Elevating the passenger experience

Pier E is a significant addition to Copenhagen Airport’s infrastructure, enhancing capacity and streamlining operations while maintaining the airport’s commitment to world-class functionality and passenger comfort.
