Cabin for Egemose Scouts

In 2019, APA designed a new scout cabin for Egemose Centret, a nature-focused scouting center nestled in the forested landscapes of Egedal Municipality. Established in the 1970s, Egemose Centret serves as a hub for outdoor experiences and personal development for scouts affiliated with recognized scouting organizations.

While the project has not yet been realized, Egemose Centret continues to seek funding through fundraising efforts to bring the vision to life.

A future built on tradition and innovation

Once realized, the new scout cabin will become an integral part of Egemose Centret’s evolving landscape, providing modernized facilities while staying true to its roots in nature, exploration, and community. APA’s design reflects the spirit of scouting, where architecture and nature merge to create spaces for adventure, learning, and connection.

Oak City: the heart of Egemose

A defining feature of the Egemose site is its self-established railway, running parallel to the access road and leading directly to "Oak City"—the vibrant core of the centre. This area hosts most of the centre’s new buildings, with the proposed scout cabin positioned as a key addition to its infrastructure.

A part of the vision includes replacing the existing "Hotel" (scout cabin) with a new, optimized facility, improving capacity and functionality to better serve scouts and visitors.

A needed renewal

The proposed scout cabin aims to elevate the quality of the experience for visitors through a range of new activity options, including:

  • Climbing walls and indoor lofts for dynamic exploration.

  • Outdoor terraces, kitchens, and shelters to enhance outdoor living and learning.

  • Sustainably sourced wood materials and a sedum roof, strengthening the connection to nature, a core element of scouting culture.

Designed with functionality, sustainability, and immersive nature experiences in mind, the new scout cabin will offer an inspiring environment that aligns with Egemose Centret’s long-standing scouting traditions.
